“Our Team’s” Cultural Awareness

Slide Show

“The successful managers of the 21st century will be the culturally-competent ones…”
Richard D. Lewis, author of business best-seller – When Cultures Collide

“The overwhelming majority of executives surveyed (bordering on 90%) believe that if cross-border communication were to improve at their company, then profit, revenue and market share would all improve as well…. Most companies understand the cost of poor cross-border communication skills of their employees, yet many are not doing enough to address the challenge.”
Competing Across Borders, The Economist Intelligence Unit

“Culture” was the most popular word in Merriam Webster’s dictionary in 2014, and any organization that is pushing frontiers outside the USA – whether through acquisition or organic development – must have felt the pain of ‘that won’t work around here’ syndrome.

The American Way may be fine for the USA, but won’t necessarily work efficiently or effectively in Sao Paulo, Shanghai or Bangalore. This instruction will give you the tools to help your clients, employees and executives become more cross-culturally competent and globally successful.

Richard D. Lewis – the man behind the Lewis Model

Richard D. Lewis is one of the world’s most distinguished cross-cultural management thinkers. He rose from a Northern English working-class background to study at the Sorbonne in Paris and set up one of the world’s largest language schools, then published When Cultures Collide which has sold over 1M copies in 15 languages.

Lewis’ Linear-Active, Multi-Active and Reactive model of culture categorization is the most sensible on the market. Additionally, for his services to Finland, Mr. Lewis has been knighted by Nobel Peace Prize Laureate – President Ahtisaari – for his services to that country.
