General Information: Ad hoc, Preparation & Self-study
It is important to emphasis that communication skills courses are constructed and developed for groups and individuals, depending on the circumstances surrounding the needs – here a holistic approach and view is taken when conducting the testing and needs analysis exercise to ensure we are aware of the full situation concerning the individual(s), their department, the organisation and the industry in which it is competing. Often they naturally evolve into an ‘ad-hoc’ coaching/support situation, where we become a strategic link in preparing and training for specific events/reasons/projects and business issues.
To complement the live training the following are preparation guidance points:
- Learn/review essential language exponents for relationship building, meetings, negotiations and presentations.
- Prepare for specific meetings and presentations
- Anticipate problems/objectives/resistance and work on solutions
- Start self-analysis of cultural impact on social and professional situations
- Prepare to adapt style to specific cultures
- Prepare difficult questions and potential answers
- Use own professional material to help build active vocabulary range
