Language

If you are learning a language for professional purposes you need a trainer who has your work-related objectives constantly in sight. We start any programme of training by a thorough assessment of your level and needs, then plan something aimed at the best results given the time available and your budget.

You can begin at the Richard Lewis Communications office, or our partner office nearest to you, and then continue in the country of your target language.

For English, our flagship centre is Riversdown House.

Some of the areas we can work on are:

  • Your structure: relating it to your professional needs. So, if you are a CEO whose most critical task in English is to plan for the future at global board meetings, then conditionals and the nuances of expressing the future are going to be key areas of your training.
  • Functional English: you know that you will have to disagree with the British at your next meeting – how can you do this in language that will be understood without causing offence?
  • Pronunciation: you have to outline the strategy for the next three years on Monday – but can you pronounce strategy, and what happens to the pronunciation and stress in the adjective strategic?
  • Social English: you know your substance, but you have been invited to a cocktail party in Brussels. Can you help break the ice?
  • Professional terms: your accounting counterpart calls and asks you to ‘net off’ one set of figures against another. You can translate all the terms on a P&L and a balance sheet, but what does this mean?

Language learning is a process. We can help you and your organisation manage that process and your language capital.
